A committee role is a great, hands-on opportunity to share some of your skills/talents with us.
Who can be a MENTOR?
Just about anyone can become one. The main requirement is a willingness to be a caring, consistent, and safe role model with a desire to share a friendship with a child.
Age? It depends on the program. Adults age 19 or older may be a Big Brother / Sister in the traditional programs. High school students, age 16 and older, may volunteer to participate in a school-based program.
What is the screening process to become a mentor?
All volunteers are carefully screened to help ensure that the relationship with the child will be safe and rewarding for everyone. Prospective volunteers are screened through an application, background checks, character references, and personal interview. All information is confidential.
